Auto mode gets a real router
Cursor's Auto now classifies every request by task type and complexity, sending demanding work to frontier models and routine work to cheaper ones. It's live across desktop, web, iOS, CLI, and the SDK, and defaults on for Teams plans.
Three dials for cost vs. quality
Choose Intelligence (frontier quality), Balance (frontier daily-drivers), or Cost (best intelligence per token). Balance and Intelligence bill at whatever model actually ran, and Cursor added Grok 4.5 as the new price-efficient routing option.
Admins can fence the router in
Team and enterprise admins can enable routing per group, restrict which modes members use, set a default, and allow or block specific underlying models — with soft or hard enforcement to standardize everyone on Auto.
Hugging Face MCP gets a filesystem and sandboxes
The official HF MCP server added hf_fs, a single tool spanning repos, storage, docs, and papers, plus Sandboxes: secure execution environments attached to buckets and repos so agents run code faster during dataset analysis, training, and Space builds.
See who's burning your HF egress
Hugging Face orgs can now view per-user egress in the dashboard, breaking down data pulled through the HF CDN. It's a first step toward pinning download costs to the specific members and jobs driving them.
