GPT-6.1 Sol: near-Astra coding on the API at a fifth of the price
OpenAI ships its DevDay model to the API at $2/$10 per million tokens, plus an 8x Ultrafast tier, Agents-API computer use, and a new Decisions API.

Frontier-class coding you can actually budget for
GPT-6.1 Sol runs $2 in / $10 out per million tokens, with cached input at $0.10 — OpenAI pitches it as near-Astra intelligence at roughly a fifth of Astra's rates. It's live across the API and paid ChatGPT tiers (Plus through Enterprise). For agent loops and coding harnesses that chew through millions of tokens, this is the difference between a hobby project and one you leave running.
Ultrafast tier: 300 tokens/sec for agents that feel instant
A new Ultrafast speed tier pushes up to 8x faster generation in Codex (~300 tok/s) and up to 6x in the API. GPT-6 Astra Ultrafast is available now for Pro 500 and Enterprise; Sol Ultrafast is listed as coming soon. If output latency is what makes your agent UI feel laggy, this is the dial to turn.
Agents API gains computer use + tool search
The Agents API can now operate software through graphical interfaces, and folds in Codex's multi-agent orchestration, tool search, tool calling, and context compaction — with a hosted browser and origin approvals. You can build agents that click through apps that have no API, without standing up your own browser-automation stack.
Decisions API: stop paying a chat model to pick an option
A new Decisions API, powered by the small 'Luna' model, returns one answer from a predefined set based on text or image context — built for classification, request routing, and agent branching. It's in limited preview with a broad release planned 'in the coming days.' It slots neatly next to this week's open decision models (Cloudflare Clef, Strands Decider).
Codex goes cloud, plus Security Cloud and 'Sign in with ChatGPT'
Codex now runs in cloud environments you can launch from any device, with a refreshed CLI (voice steering, an /agents view for delegating parallel tasks) and a Security Cloud that scans repos and prepares fixes. 'Sign in with ChatGPT' lets 16 partners — Vercel, Notion, Devin among them — run on your plan's usage instead of billing you separately.
