The free web calls inside your coding agent just ended
As of 16:00 UTC Oct 31 (00:00 Beijing, Nov 1), DeepSeek meters its server-side Search and Fetch APIs — the engines behind Claude Code's Web Search and Codex's web_search — at $0.75 per 1,000 successful requests each (~$0.00075 a call), drawn from your DeepSeek balance, granted credit first. Only HTTP 200s with real results or page content are billed; failures, empty results, and timeouts stay free. Agents that lean on live web lookups now carry a running tab.
Anthropic will now tell you who spent what
Anthropic's Usage and Cost Analytics API (beta) breaks organization tokens and spend down by model, workspace, API key, and actor — the exact user or service account behind each request — across up to five group-by dimensions, via /v1/organizations/analytics/usage and /cost. The old usage_report and cost_report endpoints are now legacy. You can finally attribute Claude spend per person or key instead of staring at one org-wide total.
OpenCode now runs on your Claude Code login
OpenCode 2.2.3–2.2.5 (Oct 30) adds a built-in Claude Agent provider: sign in with your existing Claude Code account and use its models inside the open-source terminal agent, no separate API key to wire up. compaction.buffer also now accepts a percentage of the context window, e.g. "20%", instead of a fixed token count. Your Claude seat can drive a scriptable OSS harness.
Gemini's Generate Content API now stores requests by default
Since Oct 26, new paid-tier projects calling generateContent, streamGenerateContent, or batchGenerateContent have store=true on by default, so Google retains your requests — matching the Interactions API. Existing projects keep their current setting. Opt out per call with store=false, or switch off logging in the Logs and Datasets settings. Check your posture before routing sensitive prompts through a fresh Gemini project.
