Anthropic open-sources fork-ready shopping and merchant agents
Apache-2.0 reference apps run on the Messages API, Agent SDK, or Managed Agents; a Claude Code plugin scaffolds them, and pilots saw carts 35% bigger.

Fork the repo, get two working agents
The Apache-2.0 blueprint at github.com/anthropics/commerce-agents ships a customer-facing shopping agent and a staff-facing merchant agent, each defined once as prompt, skills, tool contracts and gates. Four vertical demos — retail, travel, telecom, entertainment — boot locally with a single run_demo.py.
Inside the shopping agent
It searches catalogs, assembles multi-item carts, compares products, tracks orders, answers return-policy questions, and remembers what the customer told it — flows you swap in shopping-agent/skills/. Anthropic says enterprise pilots saw carts up to 35% larger and shoppers 60% likelier to complete a purchase.
The merchant agent stages every write
The back-office agent explains sales, fixes listings, prices and promotes from the store's own history, and drafts campaigns — but each change is staged for a human approval surface, never applied blind. Backend connectors cover Stripe, Square and PayPal, Snowflake, BigQuery and Databricks, plus Slack and Gmail.
Claude Code scaffolds it against your catalog
Run `claude plugin marketplace add anthropics/commerce-agents`, install commerce-builder, then `/scaffold-commerce-agent a shopping assistant for our store`. It runs on the Messages API, the Agent SDK, or Managed Agents, and deploys to the Claude API, Bedrock, Foundry, or Vertex AI.
Elsewhere: GLM-5.3 is half price on Vercel's gateway
Through Sep 7, DigitalOcean is serving GLM-5.3 at 50% off via Vercel AI Gateway — one API key, provider fallbacks and spend tracking, no separate account. Vercel also wired Gemini 3.8 Flash and Meta's Muse Spark 1.3 into the same gateway this week.
