  • Where you can use it today

Grok 4.5 is generally available across VS Code, Visual Studio, JetBrains, Xcode, Eclipse, the Copilot CLI, the Copilot cloud coding agent, and the GitHub Copilot app. The rollout is gradual, so if it isn't in your model picker yet, it's on the way.

  • Every paid tier, no free plan

Access spans Copilot Pro, Pro+, Max, Business, and Enterprise — there's no free-tier access. If you already pay for Copilot, the only thing between you and Grok 4.5 is the model dropdown.

  • A 500K-token window, text and images

Grok 4.5 takes up to 500,000 tokens of context, accepts both text and image inputs, and exposes low, medium, and high reasoning-effort settings. That's enough room to drop a large slice of a codebase plus screenshots into a single agentic run.

  • What it costs you

The model is billed at xAI's provider list pricing under usage-based billing — it's not an included model, so it draws down your paid request budget rather than coming free with the seat. Keep an eye on the meter during long agentic workflows.

  • Admins: it's off by default

For Copilot Business and Enterprise, the Grok 4.5 policy ships disabled — an admin has to enable it in Copilot settings before anyone in the org can select it. Solo Pro and Pro+ users get it automatically as the rollout reaches them.
