OpenAI's DevDay ships GPT-6.1 Sol at $2/$10, plus cloud Codex
DevDay's 20+ launches put Sol at a fifth of Astra's price, moved Codex to the cloud, opened Agents and Decisions APIs, and added Sign in with ChatGPT.

GPT-6.1 Sol: near-Astra work at a fifth of the price
Sol is $2 / $10 per 1M tokens with cached input at $0.10 (95% off), and OpenAI clocks a task at ~$0.72 vs $3.26 on GPT-6 Astra. Artificial Analysis scores it 52 on its Intelligence Index (Opus 5.5 is 58) - close enough that most coding and computer-use jobs no longer need the flagship. API id: gpt-6.1-sol, available now.
Codex moves to the cloud
Codex can now run tasks remotely and be watched from any device, with GitHub PR / GitLab MR code review from the desktop app and an on-demand Security Cloud that scans repos and proposes fixes. Cloud execution is included on Plus, Pro, Business, Edu and Enterprise - your agent keeps working after you close the laptop.
Agents API gets Computer Use; Decisions API opens
The Agents API now hosts multi-agent loops, tool routing and context compaction with built-in computer use, live today. A separate Decisions API classifies inputs against a fixed answer set at Luna rates ($0.10 / $0.50 per 1M) - cheap enough to replace a hand-rolled router or moderation pass.
Sign in with ChatGPT shifts inference off your bill

New Pro 500 plan is 25x the Plus allowance and unlocks Ultrafast, where Astra Ultrafast hits up to 300 tok/s at $60 / $300 per 1M (a Sol Ultrafast is coming). Pro 200 also reopened after September's pause.
