Nex-N2.5-Pro open weights land: a self-hostable computer-use agent
Apache-2.0, 262K context, free on OpenRouter — Nex's own numbers put the 1.6T Max above Claude Opus 5 on browsing, though coding still trails frontier.

The Pro weights were the missing piece
Until this week the family shipped mini and Max weights while Pro — the variant tuned for computer use — was API- and docs-only; the 397B multimodal Pro (262K context) is now downloadable on Hugging Face under Apache-2.0. It posts 87.4% on OSWorld-G, so the strongest GUI-automation model of the three is finally self-hostable.
It out-browses Claude Opus 5 — on Nex's own numbers
Vendor benchmarks put the 1.6T Max at 92.6% on BrowseComp vs Opus 5's 90.8%, with Pro close behind; on hard code-fixing it trails (SWE-Bench Pro ~61–66% vs 79%). These are Nex-AGI's self-reported scores, not independent — treat them as directional: promising for open browsing and search agents, still frontier-first for tough bug-fixing.
Pick the tier your hardware can hold
Mini (35B, ~3B active, multimodal) runs on a single 2×H100 node; Pro (397B) is heavier but free on OpenRouter right now; Max (1.6T, 6 of 384 experts active, text-only) wants two 16×H200 nodes to self-host. All three are Apache-2.0, 262K context, with tool calling and an adjustable reasoning_effort dial.
Build this weekend: a computer-use agent for $0
Pro and mini are free on OpenRouter for a limited time, both with tool calling. Wire one to a sandboxed browser or VM and you have a goal-to-verified-outcome GUI/web agent (OSWorld, WebArena) without renting a single GPU — swap in the open weights later if you outgrow the free window.
