Ambient Context logs your Mac's window text as memory for AI agents
Open-source menu-bar app reads your focused window via the macOS accessibility API, redacts secrets, and writes a daily markdown log your agents can query.

Copy markdown
Text, not screenshots
It reads the text of whichever window you've focused through the macOS accessibility tree every few seconds and appends it to one plain-markdown file per day. No OCR, no image pipeline, no screenshot folder eating your disk — just the words you actually saw, in a format your tools already parse.
Point Claude Code at the folder
The capture directory ships an AGENTS.md that documents the format, so Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor can answer "what was I working on yesterday?" or summarize a work session with zero extra setup. It's the cheapest way yet to give a local agent your context without re-explaining it every time.
Redacted before it hits disk
Password fields are skipped at the source, and API keys and card-shaped numbers are scrubbed before anything is written. Everything stays on your machine — no cloud, no account, one folder you own — which is the part that makes an always-on logger something you'd actually leave running.
The catch: early and Apple-Silicon-only
It needs macOS 14+ on Apple Silicon, ships unsigned (clone the repo, npm install, tauri build), and launched at zero stars. This is a weekend self-host, not a polished download — but the accessibility-tree-to-markdown trick is worth stealing for your own agent-memory setup.
