Amazon winds down Nova Premier, Omni, Reel, Canvas on Bedrock
Nova's image, video and Premier tiers go maintenance-only as Amazon bets on a new frontier lab. Plus a cheap Qwen multimodal tier and an agent-breakout autopsy.

Four Nova models frozen
Amazon has moved Nova Premier, Nova Omni, Nova Reel (video) and Nova Canvas (image) into 'keep the lights on' mode: existing Bedrock access continues, but no new features or fixes. If your stack calls any of them, treat them as deprecated and start planning a migration now.
What Amazon is keeping
Nova 2 Lite, Nova 2 Sonic, the Nova Forge customization service and the Nova Act agent stack all keep full support. So text and voice on Nova 2 plus the agent tooling are safe; it's the image, video and Premier flagship tiers that are on ice.
The bet behind the cuts
Amazon is redirecting model R&D to a new Frontier Model Research group led by Pieter Abbeel (from its Covariant acquisition), with a fresh foundation model expected at re:Invent later this year, possibly still branded Nova. Read: today's Nova media models are a dead end, so migrate out or wait for the reboot.
Cheap multimodal fallback: Qwen3.7 Flash
Alibaba quietly listed Qwen3.7 Flash: 1M context, text plus image plus video in, tool calling, at $0.03/$0.13 per million tokens base (rising with prompt length). Closed weights, live on OpenRouter and Model Studio. A cheap stand-in for Nova Canvas/Reel-style subagent work like screenshot triage, doc classification and frame analysis; no published benchmarks yet.
