Save your DALL-E renders before end of day
Images you made through the DALL-E GPT aren't guaranteed to survive the cutover, so download anything you want to keep before Aug 30 closes. After today the standalone tool and its prompt history are gone for good.
gpt-image-1 is now the only image path in ChatGPT
Generation stays inside ChatGPT through the built-in ChatGPT Images, running on gpt-image-1 and the cheaper gpt-image-1-mini depending on your plan. You get tighter text-to-image integration, but the DALL-E prompt surface is retired — update saved prompts, internal docs, and any shared GPT link that pointed at it.
Custom GPTs are safe; the DALL-E API already closed earlier this year
User-built GPTs with image generation enabled keep working untouched. For code, today just caps a long transition: OpenAI already deprecated the DALL-E 2 and DALL-E 3 API models earlier in 2026, so any integration still calling them broke months ago. Treat this as the final nudge to move everything to gpt-image-1.
