Google Antigravity pulls Claude 4.6 and GPT-OSS from free tiers Nov 2

After Nov 2, Gemini 3.8 Flash is the only pick left on Free and Plus; Claude 5.5 lands on Pro and Ultra only. Plus: xAI retires an image slug the same day.

  • Free and Plus drop to a single model

On Nov 2, Claude Sonnet 4.6 (thinking), Claude Opus 4.6 (thinking), and GPT-OSS-120b leave Antigravity. Free and Google AI Plus are left with Gemini 3.8 Flash as their only selectable model, and GPT-OSS-120b is pulled from Pro and Ultra too (Enterprise never had it). A free Antigravity workflow that leaned on Claude stops working tomorrow.

  • Claude 5.5 is paid-only, no trial, no BYOK

The replacement — Claude Opus 5.5 and Sonnet 5.5 (thinking) — is limited to paid (non-trial) Google AI Pro, Ultra, and Enterprise. Pro free-trial accounts cannot use it, and Antigravity supports no bring-your-own-key on any plan. For Free and Plus users the only Claude path is upgrading; otherwise it is Gemini.

  • xAI flips an image slug the same day

Also on Nov 2, xAI retires the grok-imagine-image-quality slug: requests to it (and the grok-imagine-image-pro chain) resolve to grok-imagine-image-2.0 at quality "low" — about $0.01 cheaper per image, with no change to request or response shape. Set model to grok-imagine-image-2.0 explicitly first if you want to keep choosing medium or auto quality.
