GPT-6.1 Terra: frontier agentic model at $1/$5, cheap computer use
Half the price of the model it replaces and agents 3x faster — plus Gemini computer use hits GA and Google ships a scriptable API CLI.

$1/$5 tokens, a 1M-token window, effort dials
GPT-6.1 Terra is live on the API as `gpt-6.1-terra` at $1 per million input and $5 per million output tokens — half the $2/$12 of the GPT-5.6 Terra it replaces — with a 1.05M-token context (922K in, 128K out) and reasoning-effort levels from none to max. Knowledge cutoff is June 1, 2026.
Computer use at a tenth of the old price
Terra's hosted computer-use tool (Responses API) runs at roughly a tenth of GPT-6 Astra's per-token cost and finishes tasks about 3x faster on average — cheap enough to actually loop a browser- or spreadsheet-driving agent. There's no free API tier; ChatGPT Plus and Pro get Terra inside Work and Codex, not through the API.
Gemini's Computer Use tool goes GA
Google moved its Computer Use tool to general availability on both the Interactions and GenerateContent APIs (Oct 30), so you can ship desktop- and browser-control agents on Gemini in production instead of preview — a direct alternative to Terra's computer use.
A stateless Gemini API CLI for scripts and CI
Google also shipped a beta `gemini-api` CLI: a zero-dependency, stateless command-line client aimed at coding agents, shell scripts, and CI pipelines — drop a Gemini call into a pipeline without pulling in an SDK.
