The first model to hit 'Critical'
OpenAI says its unreleased Astra model may be the first to cross the 'Critical' cyber tier in its Preparedness Framework — able to find and build working zero-days in hardened, real-world systems — and is slowing the release until stronger safeguards are ready. It's the clearest signal yet that the most capable coding models will ship gated, or late.
New agent guardrails: chain-of-thought interrupts
To contain Astra, OpenAI is deploying universal monitoring across its agentic apps that reads a model's chain of thought and can interrupt high-risk actions mid-run. It's pre-release for now, but it sets the template for how frontier agents get policed — expect more of your agent's steps to be watched and halted.

Cloudflare shipped Kitesurf, a stateless browser built for agents on Workers via Rust/Wasm — free in beta and drop-in compatible with Puppeteer, Playwright, and Chrome DevTools Protocol. It uses up to 7× less memory than Chromium for HTML extraction, so you can point a scraper or web-agent at it today. No video, WebGL, or persistent logins yet.
DeepSeek's cheaper Flash coder is trending again
