Snapchat Spotlight stops recommending fully AI-generated videos
Hybrid human+AI clips still qualify; fully synthetic ones lose reach and payouts — the latest to squeeze AI slop after Meta, YouTube and LinkedIn.

What changed on Spotlight
Snapchat said Friday its recommendation systems will surface only videos “created by real people,” cutting fully AI-generated clips from Spotlight recommendations — and, per reporting, from monetization — regardless of disclosure.
Hybrid still counts — with a label
Videos you shoot and then enhance or edit with Snapchat's own AI tools stay eligible, but carry a visible AI indicator. The dividing line is fully synthetic versus human-shot, AI-assisted.
The detection question nobody answered
Snapchat hasn't said how it tells fully-AI video from AI-assisted human video. The open risk for creators: false positives that quietly bury legit work that leans on generative tools.
You're watching a platform pattern form
Snapchat joins Meta, YouTube, LinkedIn and Substack in throttling “AI slop” in discovery feeds. If your growth loop depends on fully AI-generated short video, reach is tightening across the majors at once.
What this means for you
If you build or ship AI video, treat “post it and the feed carries it” as over on Snapchat — a human-in-frame, AI-assisted workflow is the safe lane. Snapchat says unique Spotlight contributors are up 120% year over year, so authentic-first content still has room.
