OpenAI pulls standard o3 from ChatGPT's web and mobile model settings tomorrow, closing a 90-day sunset that began May 28. Only a small share of people select it manually — but if o3 is your go-to reasoning model, it's gone overnight.
A reload bug is reportedly eating o3 chats
Users report o3 responses vanishing outright or rolling back to earlier messages after a page reload, and OpenAI hasn't published a fix. Export any o3 conversation you care about before the model leaves.
o3-pro and the API get a longer runway
o3-pro stays for Pro, Team, Enterprise and Edu, and o3's API endpoints run until Dec 11 — production code isn't cut off tomorrow. For swaps, OpenAI points to the GPT-5 line; Claude Opus 5 and Gemini 3.1 Pro are the obvious cross-vendor moves.
DALL·E's GPT is next, gone Aug 30
Four days later OpenAI retires the official DALL·E GPT from ChatGPT. Images you generated through it may not be downloadable afterward, so save anything worth keeping now; the built-in GPT Image model is the replacement.
