OpenAI halts new $200 Pro sign-ups; API, Go and Plus stay open
GPT-6 Astra demand is straining OpenAI's servers, so the priciest tier is closed to newcomers — plus fresh GitHub PR tooling and a Claude Code hang fix.

The $200 Pro tier just closed to new sign-ups
OpenAI paused new Pro subscriptions on Sept 10, saying unprecedented GPT-6 Astra demand is straining its infrastructure. Existing Pro users keep full access, and there's no waitlist or announced reopen date.
Your fallback paths stay open: API, Go, Plus
If you were about to buy Pro for Astra's reasoning and coding, the API, the cheaper Go plan, and Plus are all unaffected. OpenAI says its priority is to keep excellent service for existing users while it adds capacity.
GitHub rebuilt the pull requests page
A refreshed repo-level PR listing hit public preview with powerful filtering and a compact presentation mode — fewer clicks to find the PR you actually need. Opt in from the preview toggle on any repo.
GitHub adds AI Scan controls to the PR APIs
New REST endpoints toggle code scanning's AI Scan for pull requests at the org and repo level, so you can script AI-scan rollout instead of clicking through settings. Also new: a cache-mode flag for least-privilege Actions cache access.
Claude Code 2.1.268 stops WebFetch from hanging
WebFetch now times out at 300s (configurable via CLAUDE_CODE_WEBFETCH_DEADLINE_MS) instead of stalling a run forever, and a sustained high-CPU bug in long sessions is fixed. The prior build added maxEffortLevel to cap reasoning effort across all providers.
