Agents API with computer use
The stack behind Codex is now yours to build on: agents that call and search for tools, coordinate as multi-agent systems, drive a computer to click through software, and compact their own context — with OpenAI running the infra. Live in the API and in Codex/ChatGPT Work on Pro 500 and Enterprise.
Decisions API for real-time routing
A new hosted endpoint that classifies and routes on text or images in roughly 230ms — fast enough to sit in the hot path of an agent loop instead of a bespoke classifier. In limited preview today, with a broad release in the coming days; pricing not yet announced.
GPT-6.1 Sol, at a fifth the price
OpenAI's new model for agentic coding, computer use and professional work lands at one-fifth of GPT-6 Astra's input and output token prices. Available now to all API, Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu users.
The Ultrafast tier goes live
GPT-6 Astra Ultrafast now generates up to 8x faster in Codex (about 300 tokens/sec) and 6x faster in the API — the speed tier that was only in the API spec a day ago. On the API and in Codex/ChatGPT Work for Pro 500 and Enterprise; a Sol Ultrafast is coming soon.
Codex gets cloud, voice and security scanning
Codex adds reusable cloud environments reachable from web and mobile, a new CLI with voice chat, an /agents view and git worktrees, code review for GitHub and GitLab, and Codex Security Cloud to scan repos for vulnerabilities on demand or on a schedule.
Plugins get extensions and eventing
Plugins can now host sidebar UI and interactive panels, and sites can embed them; an MCP Events spec lets plugins fire automations, and @ChatGPT mentions arrive in Slack and Microsoft Teams. Real distribution and eventing for the tools you already build.
'Dots': always-on agents, still rough
ChatGPT-native agents that run on dedicated cloud infra and keep working while your device is closed, reachable by phone and text. Promising for proactive workflows, but early — testers hit frequent permission issues and dropped messages.
