GitHub Copilot code review now tracks new, fixed, and missed bugs
The GA update also auto-writes commit messages for accepted batches and closes its own stale threads; plus Claude's API adds on-demand compaction.

New, fixed, and missed, split at a glance
Copilot's refreshed overview comment now buckets findings into Open (including newly introduced bugs), Resolved since last review, and Previously missed — each tagged with a severity and linked to its inline comment. On a PR that churns across many commits, you can finally tell what's new from what the bot caught late.
Accept a batch, get the commit message written
When you accept an eligible batch of suggestions, Copilot now auto-generates a commit title and optional description — and it still works when the batch mixes in non-Copilot comments. One less context-switch while you clear a review queue.
It stops reopening threads you told it to leave
Auto-resolution now honors replies that signal you want an issue kept open, and marks its own comments “Won't Fix” or “Incorrect” based on your later edits. Fewer stale bot threads to hand-close, and it's generally available across GitHub today.
Elsewhere: Claude's API compacts long chats on demand
Anthropic's Messages API added on-demand compaction (beta header compact-2026-09-04): send a compaction parameter and get back a signed block that stands in for prior messages while keeping recent turns word-for-word and preserved thinking intact. Long agent runs stay cheap without you rolling your own summarizer.
