In Grok now, API 'coming soon'
Imagine Image 2.0 is live today as Quality Mode on grok.com/imagine and the iOS and Android apps. xAI says API access is 'coming soon,' so you can evaluate it now but can't wire it into a pipeline yet.
Editing that keeps its detail
Magic-wand region edits, segmentation, one-click background removal with transparent export, up to five reference images, and 15+ templates for product shots, headshots, icons and game assets. It's tuned for typography and layout consistency — the parts most image models still fumble.
#2 on the image Arena, just behind GPT-Image-2
Imagine Image 2.0 ranks second globally for both text-to-image generation and image editing on the Arena leaderboards, trailing only OpenAI's GPT-Image-2 — a real leap for xAI's Aurora line.
Coming this week: Qwen 3.8-Max open weights
Alibaba's first Max-class open-weights model — a 2.4T-param MoE (95B active) with 1M context, already on API at $2/$6 per Mtok — is due on Hugging Face and ModelScope the week of Aug 10, with a ~27B local-runnable variant to follow that fits a 24GB GPU.
