Suno v6 ships, trained only on Warner/BMG-licensed music

Three tiers, prompt-level section edits and stem separation — and a training reset that clears the legal cloud for anyone shipping AI audio.

  • Three tiers: v6, v6 wild, v6 mini

v6 is the reliable default for paying users, v6 wild trades control for surprising results, and v6 mini is faster and free for everyone. Suno is retiring its older models, so your existing prompts and integrations now resolve to v6 by default.

  • Trained only on licensed catalogs

The models were built from data licensed from Warner Music Group, BMG and Believe, and Suno says v6 does not reuse the data behind its earlier versions. That is the real shift for builders: the training-data provenance question that made AI-music products risky to ship just got much smaller.

  • Section edits, stems, and image/video refs

You can rewrite a specific section by prompt or lyric change, separate instruments and samples to build new beats, and steer generation using text, images, or video as references. It is controllable, remixable audio rather than one-shot tracks.

  • Build this weekend

Suno opened an API partner program in July, so v6 is enough to wire real audio into a product — adaptive game scores, per-user theme songs, a podcast-intro generator — behind a model whose training set is now on firmer legal footing. Fewer question marks hanging over the side project.

  • The catch: the big suits are not over

Suno settled with Warner in 2025 and struck a BMG deal in August, but Sony and Universal lawsuits are still live, and the promised artist revenue-share is an opt-in 'remix' program with no terms disclosed yet. Licensed training data is not the same as a settled industry.

  • Elsewhere: Meta's Muse agent runs in its own VM

Meta launched Muse, a personal AI agent (free plus $20–$100/month tiers) that runs each user's session in a dedicated secure VM and connects to email, calendar, and Stripe/Shopify checkout. The part worth watching for builders is the sandboxed-VM-per-agent pattern, not the consumer assistant.
