  • It reaches Codex, not just ChatGPT

The rollout covers Codex as well as ChatGPT, so the coding agent can read and take actions across more than one Google account in a single session — useful when your work identity owns the calendar and repos while a personal account holds the rest. OpenAI shipped it August 28.

  • One conversation per identity, running in parallel

You can keep one chat acting through a personal Gmail while another runs on a work account, instead of disconnecting and reconnecting a single login every time. That kills the constant account-swapping when an assistant has to straddle both inboxes, calendars and contacts.

  • The catch: admin and workspace controls still gate it

Connected accounts stay bound by their own app permissions and workspace controls, so an org admin can still block the connection. OpenAI lists availability on Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise across web, desktop, iOS and Android.
