Update: GPT-6.1 Terra lands in GitHub Copilot, cheaper than Sol
Your coding stack shifted this week: a cheaper frontier model in Copilot, the Claude API on Google Cloud, and a new subagent default in Kimi Code.

Switch your Copilot agent to Terra today
GPT-6.1 Terra is now generally available in GitHub Copilot for everyday agentic coding and terminal work, priced below GPT-6.1 Sol. Pick it from your model menu and your routine agent runs get cheaper with no other change.
Claude's API now runs through Google Cloud
Anthropic's managed ‘Claude on Google Cloud’ is GA — call the Claude API from a Google Cloud project using GCP IAM and billing, with spend counting toward your existing GCP commitments. Opus 5.5 Fast mode runs on it at up to 2.5x faster output for $8/$40 per million tokens.
Kimi Code stops auto-spawning subagents
Kimi Code 2.3.2 now handles tasks directly by default; subagents launch only when you ask or turn on swarm mode, and swarms are gone from `kimi -p` and ACP clients like Zed. If you relied on headless swarms in scripts, that path just broke — update your invocations.
Copilot's usage API now counts OpenCode
GitHub's Copilot usage-metrics API now reports model usage from more tools, including OpenCode, which it previously missed. If you track per-model or per-seat spend across your org, those runs will finally show up in your dashboards.
