Chat answers that act like apps
GPT-6 replies can now embed tappable buttons, editable charts, forms and one-off tools—OpenAI's demos include a bill splitter, a retirement calculator and a playable retro game, each generated inline instead of returned as a wall of text.
Under the hood: a streamable UI compiler
OpenAI pairs a library of native, streamable components with a compiler that renders the interface as the model generates it. It's the clearest reference yet for the generative-UI pattern builders hand-roll from JSON—worth studying if you ship chat interfaces.
No API or Apps SDK at launch
The launch post names no API, no Apps SDK hook and no developer access to Intelligent UI—it is ChatGPT-only. If you're building generative UI, the Vercel AI SDK and Claude artifacts stay your route for now; watch for an SDK extension.
What changes in your ChatGPT today
GPT-6 Sol powers Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise now; GPT-6 Luna reaches Free and Go tomorrow, and Work and Codex models are unchanged. OpenAI says GPT-6 Instant starts answering web-search queries 44% sooner than GPT-5.6 Instant.
