Read-only dir approvals land in Copilot CLI
GitHub Copilot CLI v1.0.90 adds session-scoped read-only directory approvals to its path-access prompts, plus a `--mcp-github-auth` flag that scopes your GitHub token to approved MCP server origins. If you run third-party MCP servers inside an agent, you can now hand them read-only paths and stop a rogue server from inheriting your full GitHub auth.
GPT-6.1 Sol is now in Copilot's model picker
The same release line adds GPT-6.1 Sol to model selection (v1.0.90-6), right after v1.0.90-5 fixed the 'No supported model available' errors that were breaking launches. OpenAI's $2/$10 model is now one keystroke away in the CLI, no config edit required.
Claude Code, Kiro and Codex all shipped Sept 30
Claude Code v2.1.286 tidied up permission-request stacking and fixed login-credential refresh across sessions; Kiro CLI v2.26.0 added reusable task workflows; Codex CLI rust-v0.159.3 added local-session security-setup reminders. A quiet-looking but busy day for every major coding harness.
A $7B chip deal reshapes who gets compute
Tencent reportedly signed a ~$7B, five-year deal with Oracle for access to roughly 100K advanced AI chips via Southeast Asian data centers, routing around China's import limits. If it holds, expect downstream effects on GPU availability and inference pricing — worth watching even if you never touch Tencent.
